BRAND AUDIOBALLISTICS – A HISTORY

PART ONE

Originally I owned the website called SampleNerd.com (founded March 1st 2023) which literally began from a love for the Emulator II sampler. Wanting to share this I created SampleNerd.com   Writing two articles a month it secured top search ranking within about nine months.  But it was poorly visited.  Stats showing at the most a few visitors a day.  Although by time of its dissolution Samplenerd.com had been accessed in over 53 countries. Not bad for a microblog I thought.

Thinking that visitation numbers would increase with the addition of services I added audio branding and sound design pages.  But, alas I still wasn’t seeing anything like the kind of numbers that would make it worth even paying for the domain and hosting (WordPress.com) .

One particular highlight of owning the site was that the first of two yearly awards was well received.  But ultimately I decided to let the domain expire.

I then relaunched another website under the name Audioballistics.com  I stuck with the name because a couple of people I mentioned it to thought it was a cool name. That was good enough for me. Audio ballistics has two definitions:

1. The audio signature of a firearm

2. The needle transfers on a VU.

I migrated all of the SampleNerd.com articles to it and redesigned the site completely. I went for a more ‘engineering’ feel. Taking inspiration from automotive website design.  I advertised custom audio Burn-in design services for studios and Audiophiles as well as publishing a product.

With this design theme in hand and a quality Audio Burn-in product – following lots of research on it I launched the first product!  Which is still up at Payhip.com .  I no longer have access to the account. But I think it’s kinda cool it’s still there: https://payhip.com/AudioBallistics you’re welcome to buy it if you want, but I wouldn’t bother.  I like to think of it as a “tech demo fossil.”

Do I think Burn-in is a real thing?  To be honest the results of my research were inconclusive.

Sept 2025

Although more cohesive and thematic, the rebrand still wasn’t pulling the attention I wanted.  So beginning September 2025 I built an entire theoretical business framework for the retail of Audioballistics branded headphones in four weeks!  This also included an innovative wearable charging device that might one day see legitimate development.

Tiring conversations back and forth with suppliers sometimes at 01:00 & 02:00 in the morning due to time differences, who’s professed interest mostly meant suppliers just selling me what they have already, changing the logo and selling at still-too-high MOQ.   This wasn’t my plan. I wanted to sell ear-buds that were custom tuned and high quality.  In the end after learning about different emerging & emergent markets i.e Vietnam and continued conversations, I couldn’t be bothered with it! I still like to think though that as brand Audioballistics grows a similar product may see the light of day…

Present Day – the logo.

You don’t walk a Chow Chow, you accompany it.”

I’ve always loved them.  The Fedora wasn’t actually my idea.  A.I. created that. When I saw them together I thought there’s really something quite British about it.  It’s quite a strong visual.

Soon after its creation and still involved in ongoing dialogue with Chinese manufacturers I applied for the Trademark which I successfully secured on Boxing Day 2025.

I’ve needed to learn how I operate creatively. I realised that Audioballistics is a greenhouse not a factory.  And each of the products Audioballistics calls its own are grown organically, tended, trimmed, watered until they’re ready, and actually that’s how brands grow in the wider world too.

Honour the present, respect the future…
